MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT
Hemingway Tailors has selected Macmillan Cancer Support as its chosen charity partner. As part of its agreement Hemingway Tailors has agreed to donate 5% of all online sales to Macmillan Cancer Support over the next 12 months. Hemingway whole heartedly support the great work that Macmillan carries out on a day to day basis and we are well aware that most people know someone who has been affected in some way by cancer. Through our association with Macmillan Cancer we are hoping to raise funds to help support the ongoing work that they carry out (detailed below).
ABOUT MACMILLAN CANCER
At Macmillan, they know how a cancer diagnosis can affect everything. So they’re here to support you and help you take back some control in your life. From help with money worries and advice about work, to someone who’ll listen if you just want to talk, they’re there. At the moment there are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK and they want to be there to support not only them but family and friends, anyone who is affected by cancer. Together you can make sure no one faces cancer alone.
In 2015 they supported an estimated 5.82 million people affected by cancer in the UK through at least one of their services.
This 5.8 million includes:
- 2.02 million people with a cancer diagnosis
- 558,000 carers of people with cancer
- 3.24 million other people affected by cancer (including family, friends, colleagues, and worried well)
Their services were accessed a total of 15.72 million times in 2015.
They secured a total of £280.90 million in benefits and grants for people affected by cancer.
They are reaching more people affected by cancer every year. However, it is important to know that most of their current reach is through lower-level interactions such as through their website or through their information resources. These services are great information filled resources and can be just what some people need. However they need more money to reach more people through their face-to-face and helpline services if they are to reach people in the way they need, at the times they need, in more impactful ways that really improve lives.
