Women's Autumn/Winter 2017 Style Guide
So as we say goodbye to the summer, it’s time to see in winter by addressing fashion trends you can take advantage of for the next few months. We’ve used many of the fashion week events which have taken place over the past weeks to draw inspiration for some smart winter style.

Here are 4 trends to take advantage of.

We’re seeing an increasing number of women’s suits hit the catwalks, and this year provided even more from the likes of Calvin Klein and Stella McCartney. While the catwalk can be home to some of the more outlandish looks, the suits on offer were refreshingly sharp in their cut and fit. While in previous years we’ve seen various iterations of suits at numerous fashion week events, there was little sign of the padded shoulders and oversized sleeves this year, with tailored women’s suits emerging as a common theme.

Cosy knitwear looks to be another trend that’s working its way back into popular demand this autumn/winter. While the fashion week shows placed a greater emphasis on oversized cardigans, it’s a look that can easily be adapted into a smarter getup. Think teaming a cardigan with a pair of suit trousers, an overcoat and a scarf, creating a comfortable look that won’t look out of place amongst most smart outfits.

There’s also been a resurgence of corduroy garments. Having spent a fair few years teetering on the edge of relevance, the heavy cotton fabric look set to return in many forms, including jackets and trousers, with its thick nature also makes it ideal for the colder months. To get your look right however, and avoid looking dated, it’s important that you team it up with the right pieces of clothing. For instance, wearing corduroy trousers with a fitted shirt and a pair of brogues could create a look which isn’t just smart but also makes a statement about your fashion forward dress sense.

Check patterns

Finally, we’ve also witnessed a growing favourability for check print. While in the world of tailoring check patterned fabrics have forever been a staple, this trend will see a wide range of garments featuring the print in some form. There are a whole host of ways you can go about incorporating check patterns into a smart look. Depending on how boldly you like to dress, you can opt for a checked shirt, or even have a suit created with checked lining. Alternatively, you can opt for a checked fabric for your trousers and team it up with a plain shirt, cardigan or sweater.

Final words

So, there you have 4 trends which you can implement into your looks over the next few months. The beauty of most of them is in their versatility, allowing you to get creative in how and where you implement them into your looks.
