Men spend more on footwear than women, claims research

03 February 2014

We all recognise the tired sitcom cliché of fashion-conscious young women boasting bedroom closets filled to the brim with heels, pumps, flats, boots and brogues, many of which have supposedly never even been worn! For a company so proud of just how wearable our made to measure suits are, you can imagine our opinions on the matter.

Fortunately, however, we can now leave that stereotype behind us as new research has revealed that men, in fact, spend more money on footwear than women.

The market research company Mintel recently revealed that the average British male shopper spends more money on shoes each year than his female equivalent, and we couldn’t be more delighted to hear of Britain’s increasingly fashion-conscious gentlemen.

There is a concern, however, that the nation’s footwear-hungry fops are spending the majority of their money on unwearable branded trainers, sports shoes and baseball boots. We appreciate the thought, chaps, but we think you can all do a little better.

The high street is now offering a distinctly more tasteful line in footwear couture, with gent’s brogues, ankle boots and other smart shoes making the perfect accompaniment for our made-to-measure suits and treading the line between cool and casual, smart and sophisticated perfectly.

If you are going to spend your money on footwear gents, spend it wisely! Don’t forget to leave a little left in your account for one of our beautiful bespoke suits, too...
