Here at Hemingway Tailors, we always keep an eye out for emerging trends in both men’s and women’s fashion. The bespoke suit shows no sign of going out of style – patterns, cuts and colour combinations may change but the garment remains largely the same as it has for several decades. Today’s trends aren’t just set on the catwalk, but on the red carpet. Celebrities have the power to single-handedly start a trend or trigger the comeback of a once outdated style. These are the trendsetters that have the potential to define 2015 in fashion…
The new ambassador for London Menswear Collections, rapper Tinie Tempah (real name Patrick Chukwuemeka Okogwu) is perhaps as well known for his fashion as his music. The musician is renowned for his quirky, modern twist on traditional tailoring. He’s no stranger to bold prints and even bolder colours, and is now a fixture on GQ’s Best Dressed list. With a new album set to be released this year, expect to see plenty more of Tinie Tempah and his perfect sense of style.
Lupita Nyong’o first earned the attention of the fashion world during last year’s awards circuit with countless red carpet appearances – where her effortless style stole the show. The custom-made light blue, floor-length Prada gown with plunging neckline she wore at the Oscars was undoubtedly one of the fashion highlights of the year. Nyong’o makes use of block colours and unique, interesting patterns, and she’s certainly established herself as a style icon. With the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens later this year, we’ll certainly see her on the red carpet plenty of times in 2015.
Breakfast Radio DJs aren’t usually known for their fashion credentials, but Nick Grimshaw has certainly made waves in the world of fashion. A previous ambassador for London Menswear Collections and GQ’s best-dressed man in 2014, Grimshaw is at the heart of modern British fashion. His signature style is casual – often pairing a tailored suit with trainers, jeans or a deep V-neck tee. Grimshaw’s style is cool and young, and he’s not afraid to fuse formal and casual together.
Emma Watson is undoubtedly one of the best-dressed people on the planet. The Harry Potter star looks equally at home in a red carpet gown or a sharp tux, with her signature chic, elegant, simple style now well established. 2015 is set to be a big year for Watson, as she stars in two more big movies and continues in her role as UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.
This year, Jamie Dornan made the leap from relative unknown to household name as he starred in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. The actor, musician and model has made it onto many best dressed lists this year, and it’s been a while since he’s made a fashion misstep! Dornan’s ever-increasing style reputation is sure to garner more attention as the year progresses.
We expect 2015 to be another big year for tailored suits – for both men and women. If you’d like to treat yourself to a three-piece suit this year, book an appointment with our expert tailors.
