Men favour the floral suit trend

24 July 2014

Ever since florals hit the catwalk at the SS14 men’s fashion shows around the world a few weeks ago, celebrities and fashionistas alike have been clamouring to get their hands on the most popular floral suits and shirts. While in the past some men have been publicly mocked for their love of feminine florals, those men are now standing proud, leading the trend. Sometimes trends can surprise us, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore them.

Online retailer ASOS has already sold out of its floral suit for men, while fashion data company Editd have revealed that sales of men’s floral pieces are up 130 per cent on last year. The Hawaiian shirt has always dropped in and out of fashion, but it would seem that this summer whole clothing lines have been dedicated to florals. While they are a hot new trend they can be difficult to pull off, so it’s worth taking some inspiration from fashionistas who have got the look right, or speaking to your tailor for advice.

At Hemingway Tailors, we recommend teaming a bold floral shirt with your tailored suit. Whether you’re wearing your smart navy suit or your beige summer suit, florals can add a fashionable flare to your look. If you’re keen to start shopping around for your floral prints but are yet to invest in a bespoke suit or you’d like to see what floral materials we have on offer, why not book an appointment with one of the professional tailors at Hemingway Tailors today?
